A @ Caledonia Lounge 10/16/04

A (pronounced "capital A") featured two Harvey Milk refugees: Creston Spiers on guitar and Paul Trudeau on drums. Also known at various times as Mother (pronounced "moth-er") and Meat Wave (among others; seems like they were American Handjob at one point), A's rock is a little more "mainstream", not as harrowing as HM. Neil Golden (Pet Deposit aka Special Teams aka Shiitake Knights/Lona) and Frank McDonnell (Quick Hooks/Producto) round out the lineup.

Circulatory System: Phase 2 @ 40 Watt 2/7/07

Circulatory System popped up last week on short notice with a very different show than their usual. "Phase 2" was added to the name to differentiate; this performance was more heavily "experimental", with songs appearing and dissolving occasionally throughout the improvisation, rather than being the focus. Arrangements were loosened and traditional roles altered. Charlie Johnston of 63 Crayons added otherworldly guitar effects to round out most of the usual lineup.

[I've tracked and named this in "movements", rather than by song names, as that seems more appropriate for this performance]

The Possibilities @ Smith's Olde Bar 3/2/02

This first time I saw The Possibilities was at a point when my musical taste was much different than it would become, and I didn't like it at all. So much so that I gave them the master tape without even listening to it. Little did I know Way Out would later become one of my top-whatever favorite records of all time. Luckily I later became friends with guitarist Kevin Lane, who still had the recording to give back to me (and didn't give me any grief over the dis).
